Getting to Know Altec – Maddy Majewski, Business Development Coordinator

Once again, we’re highlighting one of our newest team members, Maddy Majewski, for our Getting to Know Altec blog series. Based out of our Laguna Hills headquarters, Maddy joined Altec 5 months ago as a Business Development Coordinator and quickly earned the nickname ‘Captain’ from the sales team with her ability to flawlessly manage everyone’s schedules. Read on to learn more about her!

What did you do before landing at Altec?

I worked my way through college in the restaurant industry and really enjoyed the customer interactions. I also had the opportunity to intern at the Mesa Water District for their communications department. After I earned my Bachelor’s degree in communications studies I joined Houzz, a popular consumer website that helps you find general contractors, interior designers, etc. I really enjoyed my time there working as an onboarding specialist and also in customer success for the interior design group. The customers were great and I loved guiding them through the platform successfully.

What made you want to go into sales, and what attracted you to Altec?

I was referred to the position by one of the company’s sales directors, Curt Hixson, and through my interactions with the Altec team I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. During my internship I realized I both enjoy, and am very good at administratively managing everything from schedules, to customer inquiries and more, and I felt that I’d have a lot of opportunity to use these skills with the Altec sales team. Plus, the job was an opportunity for me to further develop my relationship-building skills and also learn the software industry at the same time.

What do you like most about your career?

I’m a take charge kind of person and I really enjoy having my own domain to manage that incorporates working with everyone on the team, hence my nickname. My job is focused on keeping things flowing for the team, kind of like a middleman. Managing everyone’s schedules definitely keeps me on my toes, with everyday being different then the last!

What are your responsibilities at Altec?

As a Business Development Coordinator my primary responsibilities are managing any and all team scheduling, and partner outreach to help build and manage these relationships.

What do you like best about Altec?

Definitely how friendly everyone is. Everyone has been so welcoming that I felt like a part of the team from day 1. It’s only been five months but I’ve gotten to know everyone so well it feels like I’ve been here for years already – but in a good way!

What’s the most interesting partner interaction you’ve had so far?

I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone I’ve gotten to speak with and can’t really pinpoint just one call! Every day I talk to a new partner and I just love how excited they all are to be working with us to bring DocLink to their customers. I’m really getting to know each person and have had great discussions about everything under the sun – it’s like I have a whole new friend group. And I’m really looking forward to meeting many of them in-person at some of our upcoming in-person conferences and events.

What do you like to do outside of work?

We’re very close with my parents and in-laws who live nearby, so we enjoy BBQ-ing as a family as often as we can, and we love to travel and go to the desert for camping and dirt bike riding. We also enjoy the beach, exploring where we live, and finding new parks and restaurants to visit with friends and family. I love to eat and we are really lucky to have so many food options in Southern California.

If you could live anywhere else, where would it be?

Illinois for sure, specifically outside of Chicago where my Mom’s side of the family lives. I’ve been in California for 11 years but I still consider Chicago home. I’d love to drag my husband back there, buy a house and raise our family but he’s a Huntington Beach native and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to tear him away from the beach.

What is your favorite food to eat?

Italian, and honestly ANYTHING Italian! My grandmother was Lithuanian but married my Sicilian grandfather when she was 21 and learned how to become the most amazing Italian cook.
