Altec Offices Set Sail – We Love to Celebrate Summer!
Recently, Altec hosted its annual summer celebrations for employees in both Laguna Hills and Tacoma! Both office teams enjoyed local water cruises with good food and drinks, great scenery, and most importantly a chance to hang out together outside of the office!
The Tacoma gang experienced some overcast weather but nevertheless took an enjoyable spin around Puget Sound. The Laguna Hills team had far better weather with the sun shining on them as they cruised Newport Beach Harbor for a couple of hours!
These summer events are the perfect example of the family-like culture we promote at Altec, and is something most employees look for in their career. According to Forbes Magazine, corporate culture “is becoming even more important as the modern workplace continues to evolve.” A Columbia University study showed that the likelihood of job turnover at an organization with high company culture is a mere 13.9 percent, whereas the probability of job turnover in low company cultures is 48.4 percent.
Altec is unique in that the average employee tenure is LONG! According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median number of years that employees stay with a company is 4.2 years. Altec’s average employee tenure is OVER 9 YEARS, double the national average! Some of our long-timers – Customer Care Manager Lori Corbino recently celebrated her 21st year with Altec, Merri Jo Cleair, Director of Product Management hit 22 years in April and Aaron Tsai, Accounting Manager is on his 27th year with the company – definitely lead with their positive attitudes and deep corporate knowledge!
Additionally at Altec, we’re very focused on keeping employees engaged with ongoing communications activities within individual departments and throughout the company. An all-hands company meeting is held once per quarter to ensure employees are kept informed about the health of the company and individual department happenings. Additionally, Altec anniversaries are celebrated during every company meeting! Birthdays are also important – we always have monthly treats, and Fridays are bagel/donut days! Company social events are also constant, including bowling and ice cream afternoons to name a few. And we all enjoy our holiday celebrations, with the highlight being the annual Halloween costume parade and contest where individuals and teams battle it out for the top awards!
