Getting to Know Altec – Lauren Huynh

People are the backbone of any company, and here at Altec we have some of the best people in the business.

Continuing with our Getting to Know Altec blog series, this month we’ll get to know Lauren Huynh, Altec’s Channel Program Manager!  Lauren is our go-to person for helping our partners market DocLink to their customers, providing them with learning and sales tools for success!

What was your first job?

My freshman year in college, I worked for Nordstrom in sales, starting in the men’s department. Not sure how I ended up there, but I do have a better sense for fashion.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I would choose Paris, I just love it, the food, the culture, the vibe.  I just love everything about that city!

What do you like best about working at Altec?

I love being part of such a strong marketing team.  We’re all such strong women and we know our stuff!

What is your favorite activity to do outside of work?

Definitely concerts, there’s nothing quite like experiencing live music!  On average I go to one almost every month, and Imagine Dragons is my favorite! Finally did a meet and greet with them this year too! I’ve been to over 75 concerts in my life… so far!

What’s the most challenging thing about working in marketing?

Helping customers understand the benefits of our solution and the value add it can bring to what our partners can sell.

What is your favorite thing about your career?

I love the variety that comes with working in marketing, there’s always something different, every day is completely different.

If you could have a conversation with any person living or deceased, who would it be and why?

I once met my maternal grandmother in Vietnam and she was a hoot so I’d love to meet with my maternal grandfather and hear his side of things!

What would you sing at karaoke night?

Thunder by Imagine Dragons of course! Or any Imagine Dragons song, because I can pretty much sing along to any of them.

What makes you laugh the most?

My friends always make me laugh.  We talk about everything, there are no limits or boundaries, they are hilarious, especially my guy friends.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

If I have some time, I’d love to get pampered, get a massage then have brunch with my hubbie.

What is your favorite meal?

My husband and I just visited his father in Spain and I am still dreaming of grilled shrimp with the heads on!  So simple, they’re just sprinkled with sea salt and grilled, but the seafood tastes different over there…the natural sweetness of the shrimp is amazing!

What was the last thing you recorded on TV?

Ellen. I love her catch phrase: “Be kind to one another.”

If you were a super hero, what powers would you have?

I love to travel and have traveled extensively, have visited over 20 countries.  I’ve ridden elephants in Phuket, camels in Cairo, horses through the water in Turk & Caicos; been on safari in Kenya; rode the gondola in Venice; zipped line in Costa Rica; did dog sledding in Alaska, etc.  So, I’d like to be able to time travel, it would be fascinating to see other eras versus today.
